The first time Jesus revealed His glory.
In John 2:1-11, scripture paints a beautiful picture of a wedding celebration in the villiage of Cana in Galilee. Everyone dancing, singing and having a good time. For weddings, how good your wine was, was a big deal. You serve your best wine first, and as the night went on, you served the less valuable wine later. But they were running out very quickly!
Mary, Jesus' mother, came up to Jesus and said "They have no more wine!" and Jesus repied "My time has not yet come." For Jesus has not yet revealed His glory. Mary turned to the servants and said "Do whatever He tells you." Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons of water. Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” When the master of the ceremony tasted the water, that was now WINE, he said “A host always serves the best wine first, then when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!”
MAN! Can you imagine witnessing this miracle?? Seeing the water slowly change into wine right before your very eyes? I love how the master of the ceremony pointed out that the wine Jesus turned, was the best wine he has ever tasted. That they served the best wine last. Think about it. He still does this today. Everything the Lord has His hand on turns more sweet, good, better, vibrant, fruitful, bright, successful, peaceful, tender, and more. More than we can even imagine because of just one touch from Jesus.
